help...trying to install 2 into 1 pipes...
« on: August 12, 2017, 08:57:57 AM »
......any clever tricks to this?
I'm in the garage trying to get a Patriot Defender 2 into 1 installed on the dresser and it is not going well. There's nobody around to help with a third hand etc..
There must be some better way.....  :banghead:

try using a bungie cord to hold up the ass end, while your wiggling it into place. Probably doesn't hurt to remove the floor bourds too.

Isn't there a cute neighbor you can call to come help hold your pipe?
Wait, that didn't quite come out right. Maybe don't quite word it like that.

Getting the head pipe on is a little challenging, definitely remove the floorboard, and swing the one mounting bracket out of the way. Then install the exhaust nuts on the heads. You should now be able to slip on the muffler, I will put a little anti sieze on there sometimes to help slide it together.
You can try doing it as an assembly piece, but the first time is tough trying to line the brackets up to easily slip in the bolts to hold it up.

Good deal. Did you get help, or just fight it alone?

Hoss, the Defender pipe and muffler is a 1 piece unit.

I did not know that. That definitely makes it a bit tougher.

My pretty little wife showed up and stood there holding the big end of the pipe while I fitted the head pipes in. It was not easy but we gotirdone.
